I grew up in Western NY, and now live in New Mexico (That unknown void between AZ and TX) . I attended Central New Mexico Community College and graduated with an AAS in Radiologic Technology.
I started with photography as a kid with a Kodak 110 camera. I never pursued it as a serious hobby until after I moved to New Mexico in 2001. I had seen one too many sunsets, and decided I need to capture them so others could enjoy them. I do realize that there are probably a billion sunset photographs taken daily. The light in NM is special, so I don't feel bad adding to billions of similar photographs.
My first SLR was the Pentax ZX-L. I had asked the rec.photo.equipment.35mm usenet group what camera would be good for me. I mentioned that I wanted to take photos of fireworks as well. The first few responses mentioned the Pentax line of cameras (which still amazes me since Canikon is usually the response people get). Long story short, I'm a Pentax owner.
I n 2006 I joined the digital world and purchased a new Pentax *ist DL. This camera is still with me though it has since been relegated to a backup role. My current main camera is the Pentax K-5. I don't foresee changing cameras unless Pentax releases a full frame digital. I still shoot some film, Ektar 100 being my favorite. I have also been dabbling with a Large Format camera, a Speed Graphic.
My Equipment includes:
Pentax *ist DL
Pentax-DA 18-55mm lens ("Kit Lens" Though I bought it after purchasing the DL)
Pentax SMCP FA 28-80 f3.5-5.6(Kit lens for the ZX-L)

I grew up in upstate NY, and now live in New Mexico. (yes, that void between AZ and TX) Currently I am attend Central New Mexico Community College. I am in their Radiologic Technology program. This consumes most of my time.
I started with photography after I moved out to New Mexico in 2001. I had seen one too many sunsets, and decided I need to capture them so others could enjoy them. I did of course realize that there are probobly a billion sunset photos in the world. I should mention that I had an interest in photography before that point, being originally from Rochester, NY. I probobly went through a multitude of 110 cameras.
My first SLR was the Pentax ZX-L. I had entered a usenet group(rec.photo.equipment.35mm) I believe) and asked about what camera would be good for me. I mentioned that I wanted to take photos of fireworks as well. The first few responses mentioned the Pentax line of cameras (which still amazes me since Canikon is usually the response people get). Long story short, I'm a Pentax owner. :-)
Second SLR i purchased was my first digital. The Pentax *ist DL. I have been using that since April 2006. I do want that new Pentax K7, but I will patiently wait while I use my DL and ZX-L (and even my Pentax ME).
For better or for worse I have never taken a photography class. I asked a friend of my Mother's, who is an excellent photographer(was going to directly link to his page but smugmug is choking on it. http://www.pbase.com/timbg
) , if I should take a class, and his response was "just keep shooting". I have used that advice well. Digital made the advice a lot easier on the wallet.
Every photo uploaded here has been via 56k dialup modem. So if it seems like the uploads happen over a long period time, thats because they do.
So ummm I don't have a flat bed scanner than can scan negs... so I did the only logical thing. I took a photo of a medium format neg with an APS-C DSLR with a wireless flash to back illuminate it. yeaaah.
