Didn't have time to grab my tripod. Well actually I did. I ran out to my car, but I had locked it in my trunk (with the keys 75 yards from me) and knew the sun was dropping fast. FRACK! Ran back and put the 2.8 135mm on, bumped up the ISO a bit and opened her up to f2.8. As you can see in the info, this was still shot at 1/80th as it were.
August 14, 2009 Sunset
- I grew up in Western NY, and now live in New Mexico (That unknown void between AZ and TX) . I attended Central New Mexico Community College and graduated with an AAS in Radiologic Technology. I started with photography as a kid with a Kodak 110 camera. I never pursued it as a serious hobby until after I moved to New Mexico in 2001. I had seen one too many sunsets, and decided I need to capture them so others could enjoy them. I do realize that there are probably a billion sunset photographs taken daily. The light in NM is special, so I don't feel bad adding to billions of similar photographs. My first SLR was the Pentax ZX-L. I had asked the rec.photo.equipment.35mm usenet group what camera would be good for me. I mentioned that I wanted to take photos of fireworks as well. The first few responses mentioned the Pentax line of cameras (which still amazes me since Canikon is usually the response people get). Long story short, I'm a Pentax owner. I n 2006 I joined the digital world and purchased a new Pentax *ist DL. This camera is still with me though it has since been relegated to a backup role. My current main camera is the Pentax K-5. I don't foresee changing cameras unless Pentax releases a full frame digital. I still shoot some film, Ektar 100 being my favorite. I have also been dabbling with a Large Format camera, a Speed Graphic. My Equipment includes: Pentax ME Pentax ZX-L(MZ-6) Pentax *ist DL Pentax K-5 Holga Speed Graphic Pentax-F 70-210 Pentax-DA 18-55mm lens ("Kit Lens" Though I bought it after purchasing the DL) Pentax SMCP FA 28-80 f3.5-5.6(Kit lens for the ZX-L) Pentax-M 50mm f1.4 Pentax-M 50mm f1.7 Pentax-M 50mm f2 Pentax-A 50mm f2 Vivitar 28mm f2.8 Cambron f6.3 400mm T-Mount Sears 135mm Macro Sunpak 522 x2 Sunpak 622 Super Sigma EF-500 DG Super White Lighting Ultra 600 Mole Richardson 407 baby Solarspot Bogen 3021 Tripod Elichrom Skyports
