I grew up in upstate NY, and now live in New Mexico. (yes, that void between AZ and TX) Currently I am attend Central New Mexico Community College. I am in their Radiologic Technology program. This consumes most of my time.
I started with photography after I moved out to New Mexico in 2001. I had seen one too many sunsets, and decided I need to capture them so others could enjoy them. I did of course realize that there are probobly a billion sunset photos in the world. I should mention that I had an interest in photography before that point, being originally from Rochester, NY. I probobly went through a multitude of 110 cameras.
My first SLR was the Pentax ZX-L. I had entered a usenet group(rec.photo.equipment.35mm) I believe) and asked about what camera would be good for me. I mentioned that I wanted to take photos of fireworks as well. The first few responses mentioned the Pentax line of cameras (which still amazes me since Canikon is usually the response people get). Long story short, I'm a Pentax owner. :-)
Second SLR i purchased was my first digital. The Pentax *ist DL. I have been using that since April 2006. I do want that new Pentax K7, but I will patiently wait while I use my DL and ZX-L (and even my Pentax ME).
For better or for worse I have never taken a photography class. I asked a friend of my Mother's, who is an excellent photographer(was going to directly link to his page but smugmug is choking on it. http://www.pbase.com/timbg) , if I should take a class, and his response was "just keep shooting". I have used that advice well. Digital made the advice a lot easier on the wallet.
